Deciding to become a flight attendant can either be a wise and rewarding decision or it can become an elusive career goal to grasp at, depending on the way you approaches it.

Eighty five percent of all applicants desirous of becoming flight attendants does not know where to start, what to say in their application, who to write to, and what qualifications are necessary to keep them ahead of other potential candidates.
Most would have sent out dozens of applications, which are often disregarded by the airline. In the average cases, the applicant would have started off on the wrong note and without any proper professional advice.

One of the first steps in evaluating a flight attendant career is determining whether you qualify for the position. After all, it would make no sense applying for a competitive job position if you are not qualify for it. Every airline has a set of minimum hiring requirements which you must satisfy in order to even be considered for an interview. Therefore in order to become a flight attendant you should satisfy the following basic requirements.

1 - Be academically qualified - every airline requires that you have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2 - Customer service experience - many airlines overlook this if you have other supporting qualifications.
3 - A second language - such as French, Spanish, German, or Chinese is a plus. But not compulsory.
4 - Weight and height - Applicant should be between 5ft and 6ft tall. And Weight in proportion to height.
5 - Medical examination - You should be free from communicable diseases & pass a full medical check-up
6 - Background check - Applicants should ensure that they have a clean police record, and no convictions.
7 - Age & Appearance - Be between 19 - 49yrs. you should be well kept and neat in appearance.
8 - Supporting qualifications - an industry recognise training certification, such as the Diploma in Airline and Travel Management from the Institute of Travel and Tourism can be of significant help. Having such a qualification indicates to the airline that you already have prior extensive professional training in commercial aviation (including prior cabin crew training) and is serious about pursuing your career.

Once you have the above basic requirements, then you are ready to apply for a Flight Attendant job position.
